No New Posts Cinnamon Club

Domed skylights, high ceilings, parquet flooring and a book-lined mezzanine recall this building's history as the old Westminster Library. Hushed, eager-to-please waiters hover like anxious footmen over Indian food that's fit for a rajah. Mains include tandoori breast of pigeon with black lentils, and seared breast of duck with sesame tamarind sauce.

London's coolest Chinese restaurant and bar is the brainchild of Mr Wagamama/Busaba Eathai and unanimously adored by everyone who sets foot in it. Follow the crowd and rock up for swanky cocktails, beautiful waitresses, hip crowds and the best dim-sum you’ll ever taste. This place should be the prototype for all new Chinese restaurants the nation over and given its enduring success we might just find that happens.

No New Posts Ubon

Not as celebrity-studded as its big sister Nobu, Ubon (that's Nobu spelled backwards, in case you hadn't noticed) compensates with breathtaking views over the Thames. The prices are just as high, however, and the food is just as excellent. Some of the Nobu classics are on the menu here, like the cod with miso, a superb combination of fresh flavours.

No New Posts Viet Hoa

Of all the Kingsland Road Vietnamese restaurants this is the most popular and despite that still our favourite. Cheap, cheerful and very low-key it offers classic rice and noodle dishes to a mix of locals, regulars and clubbers on the booze.

No New Posts Guanabara

The true heart of Brazil is beating to an irresistible rhythm in central London and you will be dancing to it, we guarantee. The smart, chic bar, Guanabara is authentic in every detail, from the regional cuisine, to the chefs, to the very hot serving staff, to the amazing drinks. Cachaca drinks are flavoured with fruit juices flown in from Brazil. Try dishes of cassava chips, Bolinho de bacalhau (salt cod fishcakes), Manjubinha(whitebait marinated in lemon and coriander) and pud of guava cheesecake. Then get out on that huge circular dance floor with its live bands or DJs and dance til late.

No New Posts Bamboula Cabin

A trip down Brixton way just wouldn't be complete without stopping by here for some snapper, ackee, plantain or curried goat. Hang out amidst a Jamaican beach hut style interior and be transported to a better place entirely. It's impossible to vent your bitterness or plot plans for murdering your boss in a place this cheerful.

The 'Ottoman cuisine' here is lighter and morerefined than the Turkish norm, as local workers and shoppers fully appreciate. This restaurant's Ankara sibling is supposed to be one of the best in Turkey. Portions are 'elegant' but mains like roasted shoulder of lamb with kumquat marmalade are powerful.

There's something about the picky share-and-share-alike nature of Lebanese food that makes you not want the night to end. It's all the overflowing wine glasses, top-notch tapas and high-pitched revealing chat that does it. The good thing about this place is it's open till 1.30am, so you can carry on past the witching hour without getting abuse from the waiters.

No New Posts Adulis

A laidback yet elegant haven from the incessant traffic of Brixton Road, Adulis offers traditional Eritrean food. Instruments, artefacts, and images of heroes and heroines from the horn of Africa combine to create an unique environment in which to explore a modest range of aromatic meaty dishes such as kulwa, which is lamb fried in ghee, onion and green chilli. Everything comes with enjera (freshly baked leavened bread) or rice. From a generous list of vegetarian options, how about the misnamed foul - a tasty mix of broad beans, onions and olives, served with cottage cheese, tomatoes and butter? Babies and children are welcome.
